The 30th Premier Show & Sale of Munster Branch of the Irish Angus Society was held at Kilmallock Mart on Saturday April 6th. There were 42 bulls forward for the sale with 27 bulls changing hands giving a clearance of 65% at an average price of €2,520 (flat with last year).Auctioneer for the show &sale was Denis Barrett, there was a strong trade on the day with6 bulls sold for €3,000 or more, trade was veryactive for the stronger more stylist bulls preseented.

The Munster branch were delighted to have Joe Moran from the Kilkenny herd in Goresbridge Kilkenny as our judge for the pre saleshow.

Joe selected Killernan Pete from the herd of Martin Hehir in MiltownMalbay in Clare as Show Champion. Pete is a son of Goulding Jumbo King and a Mogeely Joe dam. Pete was 5 star replacement and had a calving difficulty of 2.4%. Killernan Pete sold for second highest price of €3,800.

The reserve champion was Beryl Paddy came from the herd of Ger Hogan,Comea, Kilfeacle Co. Tipperary. Beryl Paddy is a son of Rosemead Karona and a Rebel dam. Paddy is a 5 star for both Terminal & replacement with a calving difficulty of 2.2%. Paddy sold for top price of €4,200.

Two bulls achieved €3,100, the first was Inchisine Prestige from the herd of Denis O’Riordan Macroom Co cork. Prestige is son of stock bull Cooldaniel Jane. Prestige is a 5 star replacement bull with a calving difficulty of 1.9%.

The next bull to achieve €3,100 was Mercury Paul from the herd of John & Shane Murphy Banteer Mallow cork. Paul is a son of stockbullLuddenmore Just the business and a Friarstown Paddy Pershore dam. Paul was 5 star for both Terminal & Replacement with a calving difficulty of 1.9%. John & Shane sold their other entry Mercury Perfect Joy for €3,000. Perfect Joy was also a son of Luddenmore Just the business and dam Luddenmore Flora. Perfect joy is a 5 star for both terminal & replacement.

The next bull to achieve €3,000 was Gurtavoher Ricardo from the herd of John Barlow Aherlow Co Tipperary. Ricardo is a son of stockbullCastlelough Midnight brandy and a Gouldimg jumbo king dam. Ricardo was a 4 star terminal bull with a calving difficulty of 2.7%. The Barlow family also received €2,800 for GurtavoherPodge. Podge is a son of KYA and 4 star for both Terminal & Replacement with a calving difficulty of 1.3%

Also achieving €2,800 was Keel Padarn from the herd of Thomas Finucane from kilflynn Co Kerry. Padarn is a son of stock bull Ballykeevican Levi. Padarn is a 4 star replacement and had a calving difficulty of 1.7%

Next highest at €2,700 was Monemore Peyton from the herd of Timmie Taylor Knocklong Co Limerick. Peyton is a son of Tubridmore Gizmo and a Goulding jumbo king dam. Peyton is a 5 start replacement with a calving difficulty of 2.6%

The next sales for the Munster Branch will be held in Castleisland on Easter Monday April 22nd and Kilmallock on Saturday April 27th.
