The final spring Show & Sale of Munster Branch of the Irish Angus Society was held at Kilmallock Mart on Saturday May 11th. There were 42 bulls forward for the sale with 27 bulls changing hands giving a clearance of 65% at an average price of €2,000(down €300 on last year).Overall there was a challenging trade with a lot of the younger less powerful bulls going unsold.

The Munster branch were delighted to have Elaine & Ben Ryall from the Fellfort herd in Watergrasshill Cork as our judges for the pre saleshow.

Elaine & Ben selected Tubridmore Re Rebel from the herd of Denis Twomey, Causeway in Kerry as Show Champion. Rebel is a son of Bunlahy John G and a Oakchurch Dictator dam. Pete was 5 starterminal &replacement and had a calving difficulty of 4.7%. Rebel went unsold as he did not meet his reserve in the sale

The reserve champion was Ballinacragga Roscoe came from the herd of Aiden Moloney, Kildysart Co Clare. Roscoewas born March 18 is a son of stockbull Powerstown Nevan whose sire is multiple show winner Drumcrow Piping hot. Roscoe is a 4 star for replacement with a calving difficulty of 2.4%. Roscoe was sold for top price of €2,700 to Dovea AI.

The second highest price on the day went to the oldest bull in the catalogue Carrigroe Pat from the herd of John Appelbe Clonakilty Co Cork. Pat was a first prize winner in the presale show and a son of KYA. Pat was 5 star for terminal & replacement and had a calving diff of 2.6%. Pat sold for €2,550

The next highest price bull at €2,500 was Mercury Perfect Eric from the herd of John & Shane Murphy Banteer Mallow cork. Perfect Ericwas a first prize winner and he is a son of stockbull Luddenmore Just the business and a Aynho Rossiter dam. Perfect Eric was 5 star for both Terminal & Replacement with a calving difficulty of 2.4%.

Ballycasey Pongo from the herd of John Hayes Kildimo Co Limerick achieved €2,300. Pongo is a son of KYA and a Drumdeevin dancer dam. Pongo was 4 star for Terminal & Replacement and had a calving diff of 1.1%.
